Genevieve Ann McIntyre

1925 - 2025

Genevieve Ann McIntyre was born on April 14, 1925, to Joseph and Mable Fitzpatrick in Lewiston, Idaho. Her Father, Joseph, worked for the J.C. Penny Company, opening stores on the West Coast. He eventually managed the first J. C. Penney, which he founded in Tacoma. She died at 100 years old on October 10th, 2025.

She grew up in Lakewood on Steilacoom Lake and went to high school at Aquinas Academy through her junior year and graduated from Clover Park High School in her senior year.

After high school, she attended the University of Washington and met the love of her life, Richard H. McIntyre, who was studying aeronautical engineering. On January 16, 1945, they were married, seven months before World War II had ended.

During her marriage she had eight children: Jon (Barbara), Patrick (Vicky), James (Susan), Tim (Penny Sue), David (Nola), Joan (Daniel), Thomas (Sharon), and Robert; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She supported her husband in his construction company, Fitzpatrick & McIntyre, which was formed with her brother Jim. This company became legendary in Lakewood.

Her father, Joseph, and mother, Mabel; her sister, Bettye; and brothers Joseph, James, and John preceded her in death. Her beloved husband, Richard, also preceded her in death.

She belonged to the Catholic Women's Club, did volunteer work at Our Lady of Guadalupe Maternity Center at St. John Bosco Church, and did volunteer work supporting funeral receptions at St. John Bosco Church. She was also involved in the St. John Bosco Garden Club (food for the needy) and belonged to Lakewood Women in Business.

Memorial will be 11 AM at St John Bosco Church, Lakewood, WA November 14, 2025, with reception following.
