HELEN FARSDAHL

Helen Catherine Farsdahl Age 87, of Puyallup WA, died peacefully January 22, 2011. She was born March 4, 1923 in Broadalbin, New York, to William and Katherine Weiderman. She was one of 14 children born to the Weidermans. After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school to become a Registered Nurse. Being the adventurer she was, she went to Sitka, Alaska to work. While there, she met her future husband, Alvin Farsdahl. They were married in 1950 and moved to Tacoma, WA where they had 3 children, Bonnie, Mark and Sonya. Alvin and Helen were married 20 years. Helen worked for over 20 years at Tacoma General Hospital. After her retirement, Helen experienced many adventures. She loved to travel and visited all 7 continents. She especially loved to visit hot destinations! On these travels, she was accompanied by family and friends. She loved gardening, desserts of all kinds, housesitting for friends and family, playing games with her children and grandchildren. Helen was also the "Queen of Lists" To carry on her legacy are Bonnie Combs, Mark and Dona Farsdahl, Richard and Sonya Dahl, Joel and Stephanie Combs, great grandchildren Abigail and Griffin Combs, and Vanessa Dahl of Washington State. In New York she is survived by her brothers, Lester Weiderman and Arthur Weiderman and sister, Clara Steffek. Her energetic, inquisitive, warm, loving soul will be missed. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held in March, hosted by her children.
