Jim, although I think the world is poorer for losing you, I can't help but smile when I think of your good-hearted, slightly absurd humor. My favorite Jim story, however, was one Irene told of when you two were still dating. She was at work and told you to light the oven at a particular time to cook the roast. You were an Army cook used to kerosene cookstoves, so you treated the gas oven just like the kerosene--you turned on the gas and went to read a magazine while the gas collected in the oven. Sometime later, you opened the door from the side and tossed in a match. The door to the oven blew off and smacked against the far wall. Irene said you called her and said, "There's something wrong with your stove. It blew up when I lit it."

I'm glad I knew you, Jim. I'm sure you and Irene are swapping stories right now about the transition.

Greg, Cindy and family. We will miss Jim. We continue to miss Irene too. Jim was one of a kind for sure. He always had a kind word and his smile lit up the room. Very special to me and Mary Kay. The green rocks are safe and secure. Oz

The Norton family was an important and loving part of my young life. Jim's good nature, kindness and humor inspired me as a child. He was very patient with kids and animals. He loved making people laugh and his quick wit was clearly present through his puns, which always produced amused groans from any number of people in a room. I have missed him over the past few years and am saddened by his loss. My condolences to Greg, Cindy and children. One doesn't often find better human beings than any member of of the Norton family. My heart goes out to them.

Jim Norton was a friend and an outstanding bus driver. I used to relieve him early in my career on the 411 route and was always greeted with a warm smile and friendly conversation. He always seemed to have a great tasting cookie for me made by his wife. I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him. RIP Jim and know you made your mark.
