I knew Jared for 20 years. His authentic, exuberant style set him apart, along with his witty humor, love of sports and his public speaking ability. One quick story. We were in Kiwanis together so I saw him weekly and grew to like him and respect him. So I approached him one day and said that I was not Jewish however if I passed before he did, I wanted him to perform a eulogy for me. The following week, at Kiwanis he approached me and said "I know what I am going to say for your eulogy. My memory is short though so hurry up and do your part before I forget what I am going to say." Sorry Jared. I did not do my part. Plus that I was 2,500 miles away at the time of your services. You will be greatly missed my me and many others. - Glen Herman -

Dear Maureen,
Cousin Steve sent me the notice of Jared's passing. Usually, such news would have come from cousin Paul, who served as the family historian, and who, to his
amusementI, I would refer to as the "grim reaper."
Unfortunately, cousin Paul is now departed and family communication has been left to hit and miss.
As I said, Steve sent me a link to Jared's obituary which was a tribute to his life of devotion to scholarship, good works, and to his family.
I also loved the dashing photo of a Jared who would win anyone's heart and I'm sure was an essential ingredient of the cement that has held your marriage together for so many wonderful years.
I wish the best to your kids and grandkids. I'm sure that Jared will be missed by all, but life will go on. That's the job for all of us, and let it be said: "That Jared set a good example".
Cousin, Ed Margpolis

I remember meeting Jared many years ago. A particular memory that stuck with me was hearing him joyfully hum the songs or anthems of football teams...I thought that was so cool!
My condolences to his loved ones! May his memory be for a blessing!

What a journey, from Torah Talk to High Holidays, to carrying the Torah across town to our new Congregation. Jared touched hundreds of people if not thousands. His kindness and wisdom will forever be a Light. He and his family will never be forgotten.

Our hearts go out to you and your family. Jared was such a mensch, teacher and Torah scholar. You were always so kind and inclusive to Mom (and us! ). She was always so happy to share with us whenever she studied with Jared.

Dear Maureen,
Reading this brought so many good memories of Jared and you. We joined CBD in 2000, and you both were of the first to have met. Randy and I felt very fondly of you both. We are deeply saddened by the news of Jared´s passing. Our hearts go out to you and your family. With love, Judy and Randy Harris

Dear Maureen, my heart joins yours in celebration of Jared's precious life, and in sadness at your loss. I did not know him very well but, even to a casual friend, it was obvious that his was a presence of Grace. May his memory and spiritual generosity in this world be a continued blessing. May love and peace enfold you and your family.
