Jarvis Krumbein Obituary
Jarvis was born in Chicago, but grew up in Queens, NY. He married Mary Steckman in 1954. He and Mary moved to Huntington NY where they worked and raised their family. They made many friends and found ways to help others by volunteering and mentoring. They also enjoyed entertaining and threw some memorable Halloween parties. Jarvis worked as an electrical engineer on various types of communication equipment over the years. On retirement, he and Mary moved to the Key Peninsula where they found a home and community they truly loved.
Jarvis had many interests and hobbies. He was involved with the local amateur astronomy group, made balsa and paper model airplanes, collected vintage cameras, was a voracious reader of science fiction and loved garage saleing. He will forever be remembered for his daiquiri's, which were always accompanied by cheese, crackers and good company.
He and Mary were involved with The Mustard Seed Project and it's mission to help people age in place from it's beginning and he relished his role as a driver once the transportation program began. He drove tens of thousands of miles and baked brownies every year for the fund raising auction. When he could no longer drive he continued to serve on the board of advisers for The Mustard Seed Village. Jarvis noted to the Tacoma News Tribune in 2017 that someday he might need the Mustard Seed's services himself. When he could no longer live on his own he brought things full circle and moved in to the Mustard Seed Village.
Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to make a donation to The Mustard Seed or the Key Peninsula Bischoff Food Bank.
