JoAnne Munce Obituary

JoAnne (Spencer) Munce "Grandma Jo" JoAnne was born in Tacoma on June 1, 1951 and lived all of her 54 years in the Spanaway area. She passed away at home on December 29, 2005 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Her husband and family were at her side. She graduated from Bethel High School in 1969 and then married her high school sweetheart, Gerry, in 1972. After staying home to raise her daughters, she worked until her "retirement" as a medical bookkeeper. Her family and friends will remember Grandma Jo most for taking joy in the simplest things in life. She had a passion for gardening, home improvement projects, and shopping with her girls for the latest gadget or addition to her pansy collection. She enjoyed getting her regular fix of "The Young and the Restless," loving on her grandkids, and her dog, Pepper. JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents, Frances (Spencer) Knipe and Karl Spencer. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten, by her husband Gerald Munce, her daughters Kristy (Jason) Rickey, and Kelley (Mark) Cavar. She was a very special grandmother to Kaitlyn, Ryann, Justin, Lane and Luke. Her two brothers and two sisters also survive her: John Spencer, Jill Rolstad, Judy Adcock, and Jay Spencer. JoAnne's family would like to thank Dr. Oliveira, his staff, and especially Franciscan Hospice for all they have done. A service celebrating JoAnne's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Fir Lane Chapel.

Gerry & Family & Jill,

As I reflect back on our days as high school friends it seems such a short time ago. Time slips away from us so quickly. I am happy to hear Joanne had such a fulfilling life, surrounded by such a wonderful family. I know the memories you shared will be gifts for a lifetime. Although you will miss her greatly, keep those memories close and treasure them. They will give you comfort in difficult times. She will remian with you always. My condolences. Wanda

Gerry, Kristy and Kelley

I am so sorry to hear of Joannes passing. Even though it's been awhile since I have seen her. I look at her picture and see the smile that she seemed to always have, (no matter what was happening.)

The world needs more people like her in it.

My thoughts and prayers to your family.
