JOHN GRAHAM Obituary

John (Walter) Gordon Graham Our beloved Dad was born on February 21, 1922 in Sumner, Washington, one of four children born to Walter and Margaret Graham. He passed away June 23, 2012 at 90 years of age, finding the peace he was seeking in joining Mom in heaven. Living in Tacoma the majority of his life, he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. He and Mary Schoneboom Graham wed on March 17, 1948, and were married for almost 62 years at the time of her passing on December 7, 2009. Within a span of 24 years, six children were born to the marriage, the last child being born on their 25th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his children, Johnny (Fredda) Graham, Debby (Ken) Webber, Peggy Rundberg, Mike (Malia) Graham, Jill (Paul) Anderson, and Melissa (Matt) Iversen. He has eight grandchildren, Todd and Brooke Laney, Amy (Rob) Tutor, Chrissy (Milo) Braseth, Parker and Megan Graham, and Emily and Joshua Iversen. He is also the great-grandfather of Chloe, Bailey, Bobby, William, Abby, Kira, Hannah, Trenton, Olivia, and Charlotte - Charlotte being born only four days prior to his death. He loved all children and always enjoyed being surrounded by them. Dad is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Glenn B. (Bud) and Doris Graham, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Dorothy Larson and Betty Aronson. Dad retired from Cammarano Brothers Rainier Beer Distributor in 1984, after being employed by the company for over 37 years. Nearly every Saturday morning for many, many years, he was up early and out on the greens playing golf. He had many happy memories of this passion. Dad played the piano by ear, having never learned to read music. His life was centered around family gatherings, and he enjoyed camping, taking road trips, Sunday drives to the "Point," watching sports, playing cards and Scrabble, working crossword puzzles, reading, and growing his vegetable gardens. Although Dad was a man of few words, he will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and teasing ways. Our family would like to thank Lois's Place Adult Home for all the care and love they provided Dad during his last month of life. He commented to family members that Lois was a "miracle." Her wonderful dedication to him helped make his final days easier for all. We also appreciate the care Franciscan Hospice provided and especially want to thank Diane. A private memorial and graveside service is being planned - arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. Condolences may be made in the online guest book at www.mountainviewtacoma.com.

The Graham family
Having started my working life in the bakery at summit thriftway working weekends with Mary, then through school with Peggy at Franklin Pierce,to working with John at Cammerano brothers,I would have to say I have never met a nicer family. My first job at Cammeranos was working with John in the warehouse picking wine, kind of a boring job unless you had someone like John around.
Great memories

Dear cousins:
Its hard to say uncle John with out including aunt Mary in my sentence. I allways looked forward to seeing uncle John. His unique smile allways made me feel warm and welcome. My memories of family reunions and christmas gatherings at John and Mary's home was something I looked forward to each and every year.If John and Mary's car was at grandma and grandpa Grahams when we arrived you just knew the fun factor would enter the fun zone! I use to enjoy talking with uncle John about his job at Cammarano Brothers. I was allways impressed with his loyalty and commitment to his job there. I never talked to a salesman or driver from Cammarano Brothers that didn't have a nice thing to say about my uncle. I once had the pleasure of watching uncle John unload a semi trailer full of wine into the warehouse. It was trully impresive what he could do with a fork lift. Hundreds of cases, tight quarters, fragile glass, not a drop spilled. Its great that uncle John was able to live out his full life cycle. This trully is a reason to celebrate one's life. Rest well uncle John.
Thanks for the fond memories
Tom, Joy and family

I want you all to know that I have nothing but fond memories of your entire family. It seems very sad to think that 8215 will never be the same. Your parents were special people, that I was blessed to have my entire childhood...not many people stay in the same place for 50+ years. I love you all, and pray for comfort and peace in your hearts.

Graham Family:
My daughter (Stacie Wallace) went to school with Melissa and I remember your parents as such warm and loving people. John was always there, sitting in his chair, always the same, quiet, with a sly sense of humor and teasing the girls: Mary laughing and cooking and keeping the place lively. I am sorry for your loss, but so happy that you have such lovely memories of a wonderful dad and mom! May your memories sustain your during this time of loss.

Dear Johnny & Fredda, Debby & Ken, Peggy, Mike & Malia, Jill & Paul, Melissa & Matt,

I really loved talking to your Dad and visiting with him. He always had a twinkle in his eye. I will never forget going to your house for Christmas's, and all of us being at Grandma & Grandpa Graham's house playing together. (We were always excited when Uncle John & Aunt Mary and kids were there because we knew we would have a great time). I will miss Uncle John and Aunt Mary, but, I know some day we will all be together and that will be a glorious day and time! I hope your Mom and Dad are having a wonderful time together in heaven, like they always did!!!

Love you All!
