John Rigney Obituary

John Rigney, Jr. Born August 27, 1960, died February 26, 2006, due to complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure. Raised in Tacoma, John graduated from Wilson High School in 1979. Following high school he worked in Alaska on fishing and crab boats. He attended Clover Park Technical College where he completed the Certified Auto Technician Program. John loved cars and his chosen profession. His health shortened his career but not his passion. John, friend to all, was preceded in death by his father John Rigney, Sr. He is survived by his beloved mother Florence Rigney Holt and her husband Rudy Holt. John is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Doralyn and Dan Long, nieces Taryn and Lauren, and nephew Michael, and many friends. A memorial service for John will be held at Life Center Chapel on 19th and South Union in Tacoma, on Saturday, March 4 at 10:30 a.m. Remembrances may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or Life Center Youth Ministries.

I had a lot of fun experiences with John(Big Rig). From our times growing up in Fircrest to our experiences in Alaska I always appreciated his honesty. Rig was not one to beat around the bush. He told you how he felt and enjoyed a good laugh. He told me more than once that at his funeral he didn't want it a sad affair but an incredible party with the Guess Who playing " Trucking across the Sky". He will be missed but his memories will live on. Keep on truckn Big Rig!
