Jon was a good friend, one of my best friends. The most that you can say of a person is that he was someone you could trust with your life. The outcome that night on the Toutle was in doubt until he arrived and saved the day for me.

He was a man of great strength, integrity, and honor. I will always miss him.

Cenci and Charlie, he loved you too; I know this as he told me so on several occasions. I am so sorry for your loss but hang in there--Jon would want us all to.

I first met Jon when we were both Reserve Officers with the Morton Police Department in the early '80s and Jon was working full time with the DNR. We did a fair amount of duck hunting together in the east end until he transferred to Dept. of Fisheries and I visited him a couple times so he could show me his hot hunting spots around Long Beach. After he moved back to this area, I worked with him some as a DFW Reserve Officer. Though we weren't as close in later years as we once were, I still considered Jon a good friend and will miss him dearly. My sympathies to Cenci and family. RIP Big Guy.

I never knew you, Jon, at least not personally, but I knew you through your reputation. You were a kind friend and mentor to one of my good friends and co-workers Kyrra, and I always knew she was in safe hands when she worked with you. You did so much to support the work and mission of the Cowlitz River Hydroelectric Project, by being present to protect and uphold the law on our surrounding timberlands. You did it, not because it was your "job" but because it was in your heart to help out. May you be at peace with God. Truly you will be missed by those who love you.

You are my best friend and the love of my life. I can't believe that you are no longer here with me. As I went through the photo albums looking for pictures for your memorial, all I could see was your smile.
Remember one day when you were driving and I asked you to swing by the mail box ? Well you did, but you just started laughing and continued up the driveway. All you were able to say through the laugh was, you asked me to swing by it, but didn't say to stop.
Those times will be greatly missed. I just hope your watching from heaven and know that I love you and miss you. Charlie will miss having you at his wedding. You watched him grow from a young boy to a teenager, to a young man who made his dreams come true because of you.

I look through the photos of the last 13 years and see your smiling face. I replay all the golf games, hikes, family dinners and celebrations and know that with the two family weddings coming up only months away, a huge part of us will be missing.
How will we all laugh and smile again?
Keep looking down from heaven upon us and know that you were loved. One day we will all be a family together again.
I'm glad our last words to each other were
I Love You. Thank you for being a part of our family. What you gave to us can never be taken away. May God embrace
you in his unending love and compassion.
