Joyce Stoican Obituary

Joyce A. Stoican June 13, 1924 ~ Sept 22, 2007 Joyce A. Stoican, beloved wife, mother, and friend joined our Heavenly Father on September 22, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Lennox, South Dakota, to Henry and Anna Jacobs, Joyce was the youngest of five sisters. She received her RN degree in 1946. Joyce married Dan Stoican in 1953, and they resided in the Gig Harbor area for the next 54 years, where they raised their beautiful family. The joys of her life were her faith in God, her family, and her friends. Joyce's caring and giving heart were a true inspiration to all who knew her. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters. She is survived by her husband, Dan, her three children, Dan Jr. (Lisa), David (Stacy), and Mary Ann (Gordy) O'Dell, and her seven grandchildren. Please join us for a celebration of Joyce's life on Monday, October 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., Gig Harbor United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way, Gig Harbor. Joyce was a talented and well-known seamstress and artist who touched many with her beautiful, hand-crafted garments and accessories. At Joyce's request, please feel free to wear something special you have acquired from her to the celebration next Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice Home Care, PO Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401-9836. Arrangements by Haven of Rest.

Maryann and family, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. What wonderful memories I have of your mom at our track meets and volleyball. She always seemed to be able to make me feel comfort when I was not having a great day. I hope all your fond memories fill your hearts and comfort you.

Dear Mr. Stoican and family:
Our heartfelt prayers go out to you. May the Lord cover you with His comfort and grace.
I remember Mrs. Stoican volunteered at Purdy Elementary as an instructor of pottery. She helped me personally make some "sculptures".
May the fond memories you have of her sustain you at this time.

Dear Stoican family, we were very sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. We will remember her as she was at the Gig Harbor Farmer's Market and the Winterfest at Peninsula High School. She always had a smile for everyone. Please accept our deepest sympathy and know you are in our thoughts and prayers. The Hoober Family
