Marcus Ford Obituary

Marcus Niles Ford Marc died unexpectedly at home May 1, 2007. He was born October 2, 1956, in Tacoma, Washington. He is survived by loving wife Rebecca Ford (Purchase), his parents Don and Barbara Ford, father-in-law David Purchase, mother-in-law Sally Riewald, brother-in-law Dylan Purchase, and his Aunt Anna Washburn and Aunt Alice Becker and several dear cousins. Marcus graduated from Washington High School in 1975 and attended Clover Park Technical College. He was a licensed electrician, employed at American Lake Veterans Hospital for the past 8 years. Prior to that he worked at Bethel Public Schools. He also worked many years as a chef at H.D. Hotspurs and Barbeque Pete's. He took pride in each project, from installing a simple light switch at one of his many customers to the maintenance of the entire power supply to the hospital. He was an avid mountaineer and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed the ocean and his motorcycle, but was partial to hiking in the Olympics. He enjoyed cooking and sharing good food with family and friends. He was a sweet and stubborn man and will be dearly missed. There will be a celebration of Marcus' life on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mountain View Aspen Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Boulevard SW, Lakewood, WA. Reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, plants for a memorial garden will be appreciated. Or you may donate to a charity of your choice.

My prayers and deepest regret for
passing of MARCUS. i only knew him for almost seven years. He was very caring and so helpful. The Dementia unit on the third floor will remember the installing of all the wiring and conduit for the air conditioining system. He always gave advice on wiring and many other things. I will say that he
dedicated throughout the hospital in many wonderful challenges. A very dear friend and your husband that was soul mate. God bless you and may the LORD GUIDE AND DIRECT YOU.

I am very sorry for your loss. I remember working with Marcus when I was just an apprentice. He was a great person to work with and he was always so easy to talk to, even if we hadn't seen each other for a while.

Becky,

Damn. That's just the "it" of it. Did not get to know Marcus, but do know you, and know you fell head over heels in love with a wonderful man. I grieve for you, all his family, and your family. As two of the good agnostics you've grown up with, Ilse and I offer you our love, affection and sympathies.

Take care,

Dennis and Ilse

Marcus was a kind man; and the kind of man that took pride in all that he did. Marcus was passionate about providing more than what you thought possible. He thought, “How can I make your life better in the long term?” and provided it. He admitted that in the long run it would make his life easier too.

Marcus was a kind man who sought joy in all that he did. He sought the joyfulness that we each have and brought it out with his humor. He supported the veterans and all who took care of them with determination of bringing the best to each.

Marcus was a kind man who spoke with such joy about his wife and plans for their life together. He sought to provide the best and be the best for his family, friends and acquaintances.

Marcus will be remembered for being a kind man.

We wish to express our heartfelt sympathy to Marcus' family. It was a shock to hear of his passing and brought back many memories of working with him as well as our infamous trip to Sturgis. I wish I had one more chance to relive those memories with him.
Though we cannot be there to celebrate his life, our thoughts and prayers will be with Marcus' family.
He will be greatly missed

Marcus will be missed more than words can express. I will always
remember how plesant Marcus was
when ever he came to our building
at the VA. I had the pleasure of sitting with Marcus and his new bride at the Union Dinner as the held hands and giggled to one another the whole night.
May God bless you and your family.

It won't be the same without Marcus coming by my office at the VA sharing stories of how happy he was with "His Lady". He was truly one of a kind and I will miss those flamming suspenders and the man who wore them.

Marcus was my best friend for years. I'm shocked to hear of his passing. We hiked, snowshoed, camped nearly every weekend for several years. Though we lost contact a few years back I have thought of our friendship often. God bless you all in this lost, it is a great loss indeed.

Marcus will be remembered in our hearts for many reasons. He was an honorable, kind person who was known in the Bethel School District for his hard working, pleasant attitude! He brought joy into so many lives, particularly his wife and mother, both of whom we know and respect. He's now an angel in heaven, as Alabama would sing, "to guide us with the light of love."

Respectfully,
Rich and Myrna Sterbenz
