I didn't know Matt very well, except for the times that I met him when I was wrestling with Peter. Matt was always really nice and was very willing to help anyone out with problems. I will definitely miss him.

I have very fond memories of Matt back at the Eastside wrestling Club.(He and the rest of the Haas clan) It was always so much fun hanging out with Scott and the boys. Matt was always such a fun kid. We spent lots of good times in that matroom, wrestling and talking together. He was always very personable...he was easy to have fun with. He was a very hard worker and very coachable too.
After the family moved to Gig Harbor I would always see Matt at the state tournament. We always made a point to talk and get caught up.
I will miss him very much and my prayers go out to the family

I had the pleasure of meeting Matt through wrestling. We had some good times and it was really nice to compete against such a good guy. When I graduated and came back to watch him at the state tournament we had a nice conversation and I will always remember the bond we had because of the wrestling brotherhood. I send my prayers to the family and friends of Matt through this horrible time.

I got to know Matt a little bit while he was at SMS and at Mount Si High School. He had a passion for a sport that his family all shared. I will forever remember his hard work and dedication.

Matt was a kind and friendly young man and a Wrestling inspiration to my son who Matt gave his time to help coach and offer advice. I have had the great pleasure of spending time with the entire Haas family and I am so sorry for the loss of this family member. Please contact me if I can help any of you in any way.

We didn't know Matt well, but I'd know his bright handsome face anywhere. It was fun being in the same wrestling community with Matt and Peter, his brother. We will miss him. Our prayers are with his family.

My sincerest condolences to Matt's family and friends for your loss.

I remember trying to interview Matt at the Mat Classic after the placing matches like I tried to do with all 'my' KingCo wrestlers. He wouldn't say much, but eventually, he admitted to being very pleased with his fifth-place finish.

When Matt began to wrestle for Peninsula I still kept tabs on him at the Mat Classic and I remember being thrilled that he wrestled in the final. He had grown up so much since that first trip to the Mat Classic.
