To Mike's family,
I remember elevator races in the Watergate Hotel when we were kids. And playing hide and seek in your house in Virginia. You were the reason we moved to Vashon. You were there and we were reassured because of it. Cecelia was there at school and we were always able to go find her for a kind word when we needed it. You are so important to all of our family. I feel so sad for you. And I will miss Mike. We have many fond memories of times spent with him. I know he's looking down on us from his star. You are in our hearts and in our prayers.

Bill, It has been a long time. I have always hoped to see you again. Never did I want it to be because of something like this. I remember your wonderful stories about the plane he loved working on, (instrumentation hiccups etc.) the hanger you both built, and the way your face always lit up when you spoke of him. As a younger woman, I went and introduced myself to find out about this young man whose Father I thought so much of. I remember these two things about him, his incredible smile, which so many others have talked about, and his hair. He had your hair. I giggled about that. I am not sure you remember me but I have never forgotten you.
As so many others have said, I am so sorry.
Your trusty Admin Assistant and Phyllis Morris wanna be,
Kim (Witherbee) Reynolds

Dear Furlong family;
I was so saddened to hear the news.
I haven't seen Mike in over twenty five years, but it seems like yesterday that we were roommates, going to school and trying to make a little extra cash in Alaska. We hung out quite a bit in those days, and Mike always looked out for me. I won't forget that.
My deepest condolences to you during this very difficult time.

Dear Mr and Mrs Furlong,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your son Mike. I got to know Mike while at Vashon High School and very much enjoyed the times we spent together on the Rock. Most of all I remember his uncanny ability to make me laugh, no matter the situation we were in at the time. As a man he was unflaggingly optimistic, and could always be counted on to say a kind word or lend a hand to a friend in need. I will miss him, but will remember him as I saw him last, with a big smile that was so Mike. God Bless you my friend.

I have great memories of growing up with Mike. He loved to ski, both on water and snow, and we had some great San Juan trips. He was an important part of my life and was a unique and wonderful person. I will miss his smile and sense of humor.

Dear Bill and family,
So sorry to hear that Mike has died. I worked in Boeing Advanced Projects when Bill was in leadership there and I was acquainted with Mike through the High Potential engineering program. I didn't know Mike very well but every once in a while we would pass each other in a hallway or between buildings at the Kent Space Center. I always noticed the family resemblance to Bill in height and good looks (including the strong chin).
Sincere condolences to the family during such a difficult time.

Mike was a great friend indeed. My memories of him are filled with laughter, spontaneity and exhileration. Life was lived in the moment, always going the extra step to make things just right, adding a twist to make it his identity. His ability to take ideas and bring them to life was amazing. I will truely miss this man who proved that nothing was impossible. He was a true gentleman. With humor and wisdom he had a way to make everyone feel special. God bless you Mike, I hope you find Nirvana!

Even though I have not seen you in years, you will be sorely missed. I loved your sense of humor, your smile. Remember when the 10 of us went to Hawaii with Harry Beal,at the end of our senior year, riding our bikes all those miles. You made the trip so fun, so many memories. I miss you all ready.
