NANCY HINKLEY Obituary

Nancy E. Hinkley Nancy was born January 3, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Sigfrid E. and Ida C. Engstrom, and passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in Tacoma, WA. Nancy graduated from Edina High School in 1951, and earned her BA from Augustana College, her MS from the University of Florida, and her EdD from North Carolina State University. Nancy maintained a passion for both teaching and learning throughout both her professional and personal life. Nancy's independent and adventurous spirit enabled her to embrace many career opportunities and to travel extensively. Her faith was strong, her friendships steadfast, and her love for her family great. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Engstrom. She is survived by her brother John Engstrom of Sand Lake, MN, daughters Karen H. Miller of Raleigh, NC, Christine M. (Gerard) Barone of Daytona Beach, FL, Catherine A. (Kevin) Ainslie of Puyallup, WA, and grandchildren Michael, Mary, Julie, Alex, and Nick. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Orchard Park Health and Rehab Center, Wynwood of Allenmore, and Franciscan Hospice. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. At the request of family, and to honor Nancy, donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care through the Franciscan Foundation, PO Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401.
