Nicholas Palmer Obituary

Nicholas Palmer
September 27, 1988 - October 20, 2020
Gig Harbor, Washington - Nicholas Christopher Palmer (Nick), age 32, passed away on October 20, 2020, after a nearly five-year battle with cancer. Nick was born on September 27, 1988 to Mark Palmer and Patricia Carney in Puyallup, Washington. He had an infectious, positive outlook on life that was on display at all times. Nick loved to help others—whether he knew them or not. He was as a very successful insurance agent who led a team of others in both eastern and western Washington. In addition, Nick was always the first to engage in any project that came up in his large network of family and friends. His intellect, curiosity, energy level, and interest in all things made him an unstoppable force when opportunities to fix anything presented themselves. Cars, boats, jet skis, construction, painting, landscaping, electrical work, cooking, financial advising, and all- around problem solving. All of this continued well after his cancer diagnosis and aggressive treatment program. He could often be found leaf blowing the large shared driveway in his neighborhood after a long day of chemotherapy infusions, simply because he enjoyed it.
Nick loved the outdoors. Especially working in his yard, camping with family, boating, and caring for the pets that he and his wife, Lindsay, shared. He is survived by his wife, Lindsay Palmer, their beloved pets, his parents, Mark (Ellen) Palmer and Patricia Carney, sister Jessica (Bert) Melby and their children Rylee, Dean, and Audrey, his step sister Tara (Tyler) Craig and their daughter Evelyn, and his step brother, Andrew (Allison) Klettke. Nick also leaves behind an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved all of them dearly and taught all of us how to live life to the fullest—with an incredibly kind heart. Nick's memory will live on with us forever. A private celebration of life will be held in January 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America or the Pierce County Humane Society.

The 3 of wish to say that we are deeply sadden to find out the Nick is gone. Although we were only his clients, we grew to know him throughout the years and thought he was a very caring, trustworthy brave person. But now that Nick is gone
We know he is no longer in pain and is walking with Angels in the kingdom of God. May everyone in his circle remember the good times and find everlasting peace in their hearts .

Just as stated above his smile and personality were infectious, we always looked forward to his visits here at the shop. Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers, rest in peace my friend.

While I only knew Nick primarily in a distance-working relationship, we collaborated on several projects together over the years at the agency and always took time to catch up at company events. In those times, he was generous, thoughtful, engaging and, quietly, wickedly humorous. His willingness to make time to help on projects, talk through ideas or just shoot the breeze made him such a joy to be around and work with, whether personally or professionally. God speed.

Usually when people pass, people left behind embellish about their lost one. None of us have to do that about Nick because he was bigger than life. Wise beyond his years and literally knew it all. Nick and I shared several hobbies and enjoyed them together. I miss his simplistic attitude which always helped me put things into prospective. I’ve never met a tougher person and if you didn’t know him, you would never know he was sick. Nick was always up for whatever even after draining cancer treatments, I can still hear him saying “Yeah I’m up for that, I should be done with chemo around 4 and I’ll text you after.” This loss will hurt forever but I’m a better person for having the opportunity to have know Nick.

We saw Nick on zoom on the 15th never guessing that would be our last time. Nick was a trusted friend and will be sadly missed. Always kind and patient when helping us choose our insurance. Rest In Peace Nick. You will definitely be missed. Our condolences to Lindsay and his family.

I met Nick over 5 years ago when trying to choose a Medicare plan and have looked forward to seeing him every year since. He was always upbeat, kind and understanding. He seemed to just know what was the best route to go and remembered small details. Nick, thank you for everything that you did .. your smile and your visits will be missed. My deepest condolences to all of Nick's family and close friends.

I did not know Nick personally but learned a lot about him through my co-worker, Nicole Garner at HealthMarkets. She spoke of him always in glowing terms.
His story saddened, inspired, and reminded me that every day is sacred and not to be taken for granted. He apparently touched everyone he met with positive energy and a willingness to help.
I recently joined HealthMarkets and understand him to have been a wonderful and positive mentor and friend. I would have been honored to meet him.
Sympathies for all of his immediate and extended family, such tremendous potential cut short, too soon.
Nick- though I never met you, I feel somehow I know you.
Rest well, brother. God Bless

The best friend anyone could have ever had the luxury of knowing. Could go weeks without talking and instantly pick up like no lost time. Gonna miss the man that knew how to fix anything and would help whoever needed it. Im gonna miss you man!

I met Nick twice - instantly I could see a young, vibrant, handsome man with a bright smile. Knowing his Dad, Mark - I could see where his characteristics stemmed from. I pray for Lindsay and all Nick's family. Cancer is just so vicious! Nick handled it like a warrior and will forever be remembered as a hero to all Cancer patients. May he rest in peace.

One of the strongest and most loyal friends I could have asked for. From the early days at ECE Academy with him until his last days, he was always a rock and someone I could count on - for anything. I will miss him tremendously.
