Beaverton, Oregon - Richard James Ruthardt passed away on Wed., June 15, 2022. He was born on Aug. 25, 1938 in Grandview. He was 83 years old.
In high school, he ran track, won many local dance contests (jitterbug, swing), and played electric bass. He then toured with popular 1960's NW rock bands The Rumblers and The Checkers.
Receiving an education degree from Central WA University led him to a job in the University Place School District. Known for his sense of humor and kindness, he was a beloved teacher at UP Primary for nearly 40 years. Early in his teaching career, he met the love of his life, Donna Michaelson. They continued to teach together their entire careers.
For the last 2 yrs. of his life, Richard (and Donna), lived in Beaverton, OR; wishing to be closer to their children and grandchildren who all live in OR. Donna preceded Richard in death three months before he passed.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Ruthardt Knowles (Keith) of Beaverton, OR; his son Jeff Ruthardt of Bend, OR and grandchildren: Lilla, Jacob, Kasey, Kylor and Ian who all adored him. He is also greatly missed by his sisters, Diana Conley and Terri Ruthardt-Mitchell as well as his brother in law, William Conley, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
