ROY LINER Obituary

Roy "Earl" Liner Bright sunrise April 17, 1940 Peaceful sunset March 8, 2017 Roy is survived by Nancy Jette Liner, his wife of 20 years; his daughter Nancy Liner Touchet (Glenn), step-children Lisa Dittman (David Rose), Pam Dittman, and Matthew Dittman (Kalene); grandchildren Paul Kotwicki (Christiana), Tucker and Logan Touchet, Dyllan Dittman, Megayn Dittman Fall (Michael), and Madison and Abigail Dittman; and three great-grandsons. Roy was preceded in death by parents O'Neal and Vera Liner and brothers Gene and Stanley Liner, and is survived by his brother Leland Liner and sisters Joyce Edelman and Janice Taylor, all of the Toledo, OH area; his aunt Sharon Liner, and her children. Roy was raised in Georgia and Ohio prior to entering the Army. He served honorably from 1959 until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1982. Following retirement he worked intermittently while attending Pierce College, where he earned five associate's degrees. He earned a certificate in the Trades industry at Clover Park Technical College, and was hired in 1992 as the Program Instructor to develop and establish the EMI program, which he taught until his retirement in 1998. Roy's greatest pastimes throughout life were fishing and restoring old cars. He was an avid car buff in the Tacoma area, was a co-founder and active member of the RSSVTC (T-Bird Club), and was known as the "go-to" man for technical advice and help with repairs. He was also an active member of the Grafitti Vintage and Steeds car clubs, and over the years won many awards for his four restored vintage vehicles. His Southern charm, helpfulness, and friendliness will be missed by many. At his request Military Honors were conducted at Tahoma National Cemetery. The family thanks everyone who was a part of his life and who shared their friendship and joy with him and with us during this time. We are especially grateful for the compassionate care and help of so many special people of CHI Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care in Tacoma. Roy's family welcomes donations to Hospice in his name.
