Gig Harbor, Washington - Ruth Waltman was born in Los Angeles, California on January 18, 1946.
We met in the Neonatal ICU at Harbor General Hospital.
We had the first of our many life-long lunches there. Ruth paid for the starving intern.
Ruth was a social worker whose greatest professional joy was finalizing adoptions and bringing people together.
She filled the world with compassion, kindness, and care. Ruth had no enemies, no harsh words.
Ruth has given as her legacy Matthew David Waltman and Daniel Nathan Waltman, sons of great energy, integrity, and import.
She leaves wonderful daughters-in-law Audrey Waltman and Ashley Waltman, two women who reflect her attitude and beliefs.
We thank them for what they have brought to our family.
Ruth leaves grandchildren Eli Waltman, Eva Waltman, and Violet Rose Waltman. May they continue to be connected, aware, caring, loving, and live lives of meaning.
Ruth always cared, always did a bit more, always had time. Yes, was her best and favorite word.
It says in the Book of Ruth, "Whither though goes, so goes I." Ruth saw her role as taking care of other people.
We shall measure Ruth not by what she has done, but by what she has done for others.
Ruth Waltman will be profoundly missed, strongly remembered, forever cherished.
