SHARON HIRZ Obituary

Sharon Kae McElroy Hirz Age 74, died on March 1, 2015, in Lakewood, WA. Sharon is survived by her husband, Dale Hirz, of Lakewood, WA; brother, Rodney McElroy; children, Kathy Hagbo, Nancy Heussman (Pete), David Hirz (Dorothy), and Brian Hirz (Dina); and 16 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Sheryl Sjulin and Diane Seeger. Sharon was born May 12, 1940 in Randalia, Iowa to parents Paul McElroy and Lillian Arthur McElroy. She was actively involved in 4-H. She graduated from Sidney High School in Sidney, Iowa and subsequently enrolled in Iowa State University. She transferred to University of Iowa. She married Dale Hirz in Sidney, Iowa on June 25, 1961. She graduated from University of Iowa with a degree in teaching/elementary education in 1962. She briefly taught in Iowa City. Sharon was a social, active woman who was deeply and passionately involved in Family Counseling Services, Lakewood Hospital Auxiliary, Lakewood Women of Rotary, Caring for Kids, PEO (56 year member), Clover Park Citizens Committee for Schools, PTA, and other organizations for the majority of her life. She enjoyed sewing, antiques, genealogy, and her family. Her family and friends will always remember her as a loving, caring, generous and hospitable woman. A memorial will be conducted on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 am, at Little Church on the Prairie (6310 Motor Ave. SW, Lakewood, 98499) with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sharon's life. Donations can be sent to Caring For Kids (www.carekids.org/) in lieu of flowers.

Just a brief note to let you know you are in my thoughts at this difficult time and I wish you peace in knowing that you did everything you could for Sharon.
