Tacoma, Washington - Sherry Ann Foster was called home to heaven while surrounded by her loving family after a sudden illness. She was born May 6th, 1946 in Cleveland, Mississippi, to her mother Anna Geraldine Sibley, and her father, John Henry Sibley. She was the youngest of three siblings. In 1955 the family moved to Tacoma, Washington, where Sherry attended school in the Bethel and Franklin Pierce school districts. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years and best friend, Thomas Foster, her brother John Sibley, sister Valinda Allen, and a beautiful, blended family of 9 adult children- including 5 of her own and 4 through her marriage with Tom. She has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and relatives that love and miss her.
Sherry had a few career paths while raising her five children as a strong and resilient single mother. She was a member of the Laborer's Union, Local 252, and worked at Todd and Vigor Shipyards in Seattle until she found her true calling; BARTENDING! Sherry had the joyous experience of serving others as a bartender on the tide flats of Tacoma for many years. She was the best storyteller and was kind to all. She took pride in making lasting friendships during her lifetime.
Sherry Ann was a glowing light in any room she entered. Her radiant smile, contagious laugh, and can-do personality could lift anyone up during troubled times. Sherry was known for extending a helpful hand to anyone in need and never judging.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Aspen Chapel on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023, at 2:00 PM with a reception directly following in the Willow Room. All are welcome.
