Theodore J. Smith Sr. Reunited Again Mr. Theodore (Ted) Smith Sr. died peacefully on August 27th, 2016, in Portland, Oregon shortly before his 95th birthday. Ted is survived by his brother-in-law, Ed Potts; daughter Jan Smith, Portland OR; daughter Linda Carrol, Seattle, WA; daughter Jennifer Baughman, Nurlu, France; son Ted Smith Jr., Gig Harbor, WA; fifteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Ted was born on September 12th, 1921 in Los Banos, CA, and after service in World War II graduated from Westmont College (Santa Barbara) and Dallas Theological Seminary. He was married to Mary JoAnne (Potts) Smith for 62 years before her passing in 2010. After Seminary, Ted and JoAnne moved to Tacoma to serve at First Presbyterian Church. Later Ted became a teacher at Stewart Junior High School. Ted was very involved at First Presbyterian, living out his faith in Christ as a youth pastor, elder, men's Bible study teacher, and wherever else he was needed. Ted cared faithfully for his wife JoAnne until the end of her life. He subsequently went to live with his oldest daughter Jan and her husband Del in Portland. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Tacoma later this fall.
