THOMAS LYMAN Obituary

Thomas Everett Lyman Was born July 22, 1948, and released July 20, 2017. Tom was a Tacoma native who attended Jefferson Elementary, Mason Jr. High, and Wilson HS (class of '66). He enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Wexford. A party at the Cloverleaf tavern, with JP Patches, celebrated his retirement from Tacoma Power. His later years were spent in Post Falls, ID, where a whole new world of friends awaited. Tom loved trains (volunteering at Camp 6), restoring old tractors, building and flying model airplanes, rock hounding, road tripping, and nearly a lifetime of fun at the family property in Vaughn, WA. Most of all, Tom loved people. His kind, compassionate, and humble heart were always ready to help those in need either of his time or resources. To those who knew him best he will be remembered as a story teller. He was the keeper of family stories, of his own adventures and of ordinary days. The stories most often repeated were the best. It wasn't about surprise endings... just the sound of his voice, his obvious enjoyment in the telling, and love for those who listened. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Alice and Bernard, and his brother Charles. He is survived by wife Ruth, sister Mary Anne, and brother John. To say he will be missed by many seems inadequate. Words do fail. Nevertheless, "WE MISS YOU TOM!" Be at peace. Contributions are always welcomed by Hospice of North Idaho, or any hospice facility in your area. The caring and supportive work they do is invaluable.

As one of the little kids in the cousin line-up, I remember Tom as being kind, encouraging and smiling. Even as a little kid, he always made me feel valued and important. My husband, who only met Tom once, was also touched by Tom's genuine caring nature. He will always be remembered.

We sure enjoyed being neighbors to Tom and Ruth and we knew that if we made enough noise riding past there home that they may buy a harley someday. And guess what, they did! And what fabulous memories were made on that Hog. I personally will miss Toms stories and watching his face light up as he told them. We are Thankful to have known such a wonderful man. The Bucks

I do remember Tom as a story teller. The only opportunities I had to spend time with him were out at Vaughn Bay. He was always easy to be with and made you feel at ease hanging around with him. My condolences to his wife, his sister and all who will miss him.
