William Gallamore Obituary
September 21, 1938 - November 11, 2020
Tacoma, Washington - William (Les) was born in Trail BC Canada to William and Janet Gallamore. Dad enjoyed playing hockey, curling and baseball while growing up. He met mom in high school, got married and attended a Trade school for printing in Tennessee. He received a job offer and moved to Tacoma where he began his printing career. He had a creative and inventive mind and was well respected in the industry. He loved to travel and we loved listening to his stories every Sunday at Family dinner. Dad was very active in his church, Redeemer Lutheran. You could always find him working on projects keeping the physical church together but also the "go to" usher. In retirement he found great happiness in volunteering for those in need, in the community, church family, Habitat for Humanity and even an International mission trip with two of his granddaughters. Dad taught us the importance of family and traditions. He attended every event for his grandchildren and they knew he wanted to be there for them! He always told us there were givers and takers in this world. Dad was definitely a giver. How lucky we were to have had him to love, support and guide us. We are so comforted in knowing he is reunited with Mom and Kandace.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife (Marlene) and granddaughter (Kandace). And survived by his children, Cindy, Gordie (Connie),Heather (Mike). Grandchildren, Melissa (Greg), Ashleigh (Danny), Andrew (Max), Anna, and Curt. And great grandchildren Barrett, Simon, Leslie and an early surprise on New Year's Eve, baby Chloe.
You would ask Dad how he was doing and his response would be "damn near perfect" and in the eyes of his children and Grandchildren he was.
Due to Covid 19, we are waiting to have his Celebration of life at a later date, we will keep family and friends updated.

In 1979, I was a young man exiting Ft. Lewis. Pioneer had reached out to the Army for a "Veteran" and so, I found myself in an interview with Les. I remember his quiet dignified demeanor making me think that while I knew nothing of Printing, I needed to work there. It was a Thursday and he offered me the job to start the following Monday. When I said that I couldn't accept because I'd still be in the Army (I had 1 more week to go), I'll never forget that he was taken aback. When he asked when I COULD start, I answered 1 week and a day later on a Friday. I will also never forget his half smile while not a smile as he gave me the job. By doing so, he helped me on my way to reinforcing the work ethic my parents had given me which I've carried my entire life. I was never aware of his faith but now, at an age far beyond his at the time of that interview, I have the experience to understand that he was walking his faith with that quiet dignity. I hope that his family finds peace with the knowledge that he has now been rewarded for that faith. Thank you Mr. Gallamore.

Hello Gallamore family, My condolences on the loss of your Dad. My father, Dick Toth, worked with Les at Pioneer Business Forms and both my parents held both of yours in high regard. My siblings and I have been sharing memory snippets of Les among ourselves. I wanted to tell you my best memory of your Dad. I was 25 yrs old and had just moved to WI from Tacoma. I was flying home for Christmas and had a layover in Denver. There was a dense fog wall at Sea Tac and they weren't allowing planes to land there. I was stuck in Denver and had $1.27 in my pocket and no credit card. I called my parents in tears. Your Dad happened to be in Denver on business and my Dad called him. Within an hour he was at the airport to pick me up. He made sure I was safely in my hotel room (which I'm sure my Dad asked him to arrange) and took me out to dinner that night. He listened attentively to my tales of Peace Corps (I had recently returned) and seemed genuinely interested. I went from being scared and alone to feeling very cared for and safe. He was a truly good and remarkable man. I hope that your memories and the love of family will sustain you in this time of sorrow. Sincerely, Liz (Toth) Leske

Dear Gallamore family; a note to say how sorry I am that you have lost your Dad. Les worked with my father (Richard Toth) at Pioneer Business Forms. My Dad valued Les on the job, and Dad and Mom (Marylou) treasured Les' and Marlene's company at various social events. May Les be scoring all the hockey goals now!

Worked at Print NW in Pressroom where Les was our GM , he would stop by the press and a conversation would start about home projects going on and or golf and before I realized it an hour would go by and then I would have to pad my hourly timesheet. Les was instrumental in running the company golf tourney and they were a blast . Les was a great storyteller and a impeccable dresser the monogram on his shirt cuffs said it all. My condolences to the the Gallamore family , John Swanson
