Janet L. Pollmann

Janet L. Pollmann, beloved mother, wife, friend, and community light, passed away surrounded by love on June 21, 2025 at the age of 61. She was a resident of Seymour.

She was so many things to so many people--a talented seamstress, a 3-star cook in the eyes of everyone lucky enough to sit at her table, a natural born salesman with a gift for connecting with others, and a Mardi Gras queen in both spirit and sparkle. She poured her energy into everything she touched, whether it was cheering loudly as a true sports fanatic for the Seymour Owls or the St. Louis Cardinals, lending a helping hand to anyone in need, or helping St. Ambrose School as a proud PTO President.

But one of her greatest talents was throwing a party. She knew how to celebrate life--and made sure everyone else did too. Her warmth, wit, and ability to make people feel welcome will never be forgotten.

More than anything, she loved her family fiercely. She was the heart of her home, and the kind of mom who showed up to everything, brought snacks for everyone, and knew exactly how to make people feel seen.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loud cheering from the bleachers. We will miss her every single day.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leonard, of 33 years; her daughter, Emilee of Indianapolis, IN; her son, Mitchell of Greensboro, NC; brothers, Ron (Debbie) Kalmer and Bruce (Debbie) Kalmer; sisters, Helen (Ron) Henken, and Linda Goff; sisters-in-law Mary Beth Kalmer, Kathy (Fred) Ducharme, Jan Peters, Donna (Chuck) Peak, and Carol (Rod) Beckman; brothers-in-law Charlie (Geri) Pollmann, Dennis (Kelly) Pollmann, Paul (Brenda) Pollman, and Paul Schauster; and numerous nieces and nephews, who were all like grandchildren to her.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea; parents, Henrietta and Hubert Kalmer, Sr.; sister, Ruth Kalmer; four brothers, Hubert Kalmer, Jr., Richard Kalmer, Allen Kalmer, and Brian Kalmer; father and mother-in-law Vincent and Margaret Pollmann.

Visitation will take place from 4-8PM, Thursday, June 26, at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Visitation will continue from 10:30-11:30 on Friday, June 27 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 325 S. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Rev. Daniel Staublin will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM at the church. She will be laid to rest at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery, Seymour.
