Joann Moore Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Madeline Joann Moore, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and dear friend, who left us on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the age of 97. Joann lived a vibrant life, filled with love, adventure, and laughter. She graduated from Paris Crossing High School and went on to business college in Seymour, which set her on a path that would lead her to a fulfilling career as an office manager at American Airlines.
A dedicated member of the community, Joann was actively involved in Cana United Methodist Church, the Democrat Women's group, the Truman Club, Friends of the Muscatatuck River Society, World Airlines Clubs, and the Montreal Interline Club. Her spirit of service shone brightly through her volunteer work at the YMCA in Tucson, AZ. She was always ready to lend a hand and bring a smile to those around her.
Joann had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved to spend her weekends playing golf, working in her beautiful yard at the farm, and traveling the world-exploring every continent except Antarctica! In fact, she once even drove RVs to dealerships straight from manufacturers, a testament to her adventurous spirit.
Joann is survived by her cherished daughters, Areta Finch and Debbie Alvarez (and her husband Fred), her beloved son Tom Moore, sister Cheryl Trisler, brother Mark Trisler, sister-in-law Jewell Trisler, and her adored grandchildren: Shannon (Richard) Curtis, Michael (Chrissie) Mealer, Robert L. (Nathan) York, Jr., J.R. Brownlow Smith, Richard (Stacy) Nowell, and Ricky Trimmer and Kristi Trimmer, seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of Joann's heart with them.
Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Joann's life. A public visitation will be held at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 1:00 PM. Rev. Joe Wyatt will officiate. Joann will be laid to rest in Cana Cemetery in Crothersville, IN. Following the graveside service, there will be a reception at the nearby family farm.
As we bid farewell to Joann, let us cherish the wonderful memories and the joyful moments she gifted us throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Joann was preceded in death by her daughters, Beverly Jo Moore, and Judy Trimmer; daughter-in-law, Sherida Moore; brothers, Billy and Larry Trisler; sisters, Cleo Donahue, and Sue Trisler; grandson, Scott Mealer.
Memorials may be made in Joann's memory to the Friends of Muscatatuck River Society, Cana United Methodist Church Cemetery, or the Avenue of Flags.
