Michael A. "Mike" Richards Sr.

1960 - 2013

Michael A. "Mike" Richards Sr., 53, of Seymour, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, with his family by his side.
Born in Seymour, on Feb. 5, 1960, he was the son of the late Howard E. "Jake" Richards and Dorothy J. "Dot" Richards.
Michael attended Seymour High School and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, ABATE, American Legion and the Eagles club of Seymour. He enjoyed many things in his life, such as kids, the outdoors, and animals, especially his dogs Daisy and Spanky. He wasn't just a mechanic, he was a very good mechanic who loved being under the hood, working on a motor. His greatest enjoyment was being able to ride the highways on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle or driving his 1969 Dodge Dart with the windows down.
He married Kim Newkirk on April 7, 2010.
Mike leaves behind his wife; children, Michael A. Richards Jr. and Rachael D. Bell; sister, Tamera S. Richards; stepson, Luke Newkirk; grandchildren, Vaden and Zaide Richards; stepgranddaughter, Alexis Garza; special niece, Chelsea Richards; mother and father-in-law, Sandra and Chet Angel; and several aunts and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, with Deacon Mike East officiating. After the service, Mike will take his last ride in a Harley-Davidson funeral coach to Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or American Cancer Research Foundation.
