Ruth Dyer Obituary

Ruth Marie Dyer, 95, formerly of Seymour, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Millers Senior Living in Castleton, IN. She was born in Sullivan County, IN on May 22, 1924 to the late Leo J. and Mary Calvert.

She graduated from Worthington High School in 1942. Ruth married Harry F. Dyer on October 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2002. For the last 18 years she has resided in La Quinta, CA.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life she was involved with the Eagles, VFW, American Legion, Eastern Star and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour and a member of the La Quinta Christian Fellowship Church in La Quinta, CA.

She is survived by her children, Ronald L. (Taunya) Dyer of Indianapolis, Cheryl A. (Toby) Orr of LaQuinta, CA and Thomas K. (Lisa) Dyer of Seymour, grandchildren, Stacy Dyer, Indianapolis, IN, Christy Dyer (Steve) Sweet, Fishers, IN, Micah (Shannon) McLendon of Los Angeles, Marcie Patman of Los Angeles and Lincoln Dyer, Indianapolis, IN, and great-grandchildren, Jackson Sweet, Allison Sweet, Brandon Sweet and Silvianna McLendon.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, David Dyer, sister, Helen Burch.

Friends may visit with Ruth's family at Burkholder Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 419 North Chestnut Street, Seymour on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Andrew Currao officiating. Interment will be in the Worthington Cemetery, Worthington, Indiana on Friday at 11:00 a.m.
