Lynda Nugent Obituary

NUGENT - Lynda Jo Boyd Nugent, 82, of St. Marys, Ga., passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2025, from congestive heart failure while surrounded by loved ones.
Lynda is survived by her sons, Todd (wife, Kelly) Welch, Mike (Renee) Welch and Brett (wife, Sabrina) Welch; nine grandchildren; brother, Bruce (wife, Lynn) Boyd; one niece; one nephew; several cousins; and a host of friends whom she called family.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Janet Boyd, and husband, Tommy Nugent.
Lynda was born in Steubenville, Ohio, but had considered Georgia her home since 1970. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, Ga., for many years. Lynda received her master's degree in education while attending UGA and VSU. She taught for 30 years in Atkinson County and Camden County Schools. Lynda had a love for teaching and will be remembered by countless students as a giving, fun-loving, sincere and dedicated mentor.
After retiring, she dedicated 15 years of her life working for the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge in Cooper Landing, Alaska. Lynda loved to travel the world by land and sea, never meeting a stranger. One of her favorite places to be, other than home in St. Marys, was Cooper Landing, Alaska. There was no adventure too remote or too daring to deter her thirst for adventure. We will all remember her infectious laughter, the long talks of her travels, how much she loved her family and friends, and that she was a true Georgia Bulldog fan! Go Dawgs!
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
