Dorrita Faye Price

Dorrita (Doe) Price, age 84, passed away April 12, 2023. Doe was born in Rockford, Illinois on June 7, 1938. Daughter of Dorothy Barris, she attended Rockford Schools in which she graduated from East High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, her sweetheart since the age of 14, John (Jack) Price on August 5, 1956.

While Jack served in the Marine Corps, he and Doe stationed at 29 Palms in California where their first son, Kip Gilbert Price was born. They settled back to Rockford where they welcomed two more sons, Michael Robert Price and Jeffrey Scott Price.

Jack and Doe and their sons moved to Woodstock, Georgia in 1974 and they became deeply involved with their community. Doe worked as the secretary at Woodstock Elementary School from 1975-1985, where she was beloved by so many children over the years. Jack and Doe were members of the Woodstock United Methodist Church, enjoying many years of service and fellowship there.

Doe will perhaps be remembered most for her lavish love of family and friends. She loved traveling with them, and family vacations were a highlight in Doe's life. From her home to her fashion, Doe shined with sophistication and style.

Doe was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, son Kip Price, sister Cheryl Shipman Wockenfuss and aunts Arla Wood, Dolores Senkel, cousin Karen Schaffer, Darla Bennett and her beloved in-laws Vera and Lewis Price. She is survived by her brother Larry (Mary) Shipman, and two sons, Mike (Cathie) Price and Jeff (Kristian) Price. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Videssa (Kyle) Ormsby, Wendy Bass, Scott (Molly) Price, Ashton Price and Mallory Price; and great-grandsons Cole Ormsby, Walker Ormsby, Coker Ormsby, Charles Snyder, Samuel Snyder, Thomas Snyder, JD Snyder, Miller Price and Jackson Price.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 20th at 11:00 AM at Poole Funeral Home presided by Craig Ormsby with interment to follow at Georgia National Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Poole Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 19th 5:00 PM-8:00 PM and Thursday at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Hospital of Atlanta.
