Allen Kelley
November 15, 1930 - June 18, 2021
Walla Walla, Washington - It is with deepest regret that the family of Allen Dee Kelley announce his passing on June 18th, 2021 at Walla Walla Veteran's Home in Walla Walla, WA.
Allen Kelley was born November 15, 1930 in Wheatland, WY to Ellis John Kelley and Inez Maude (Hise) Kelley. He graduated from Torrington High School in 1948. On September 16th, 1951 he entered the United States Marine Corps as a selective service volunteer. He transferred to Korea where his primary duty was to detect and disarm land mines while on patrol.
After returning from Korea he married Audrey Perryman on August 22nd, 1953. They resided in Torrington, WY until 1965 when they moved to Prosser, WA where he began his employment for the USDA at the Irrigated Agricultural Research Center. He retired from the USDA in March of 1991.
After enjoying a brief retirement Allen and Audrey began their work with Laborers for Christ. For many years they traveled around the United States helping build church buildings and schools. Allen started his time with Laborers for Christ as a volunteer and ended his time there as a project manager.
After Audrey's passing, Allen was fortunate enough to find love again with Ione Bisping. Unfortunately, she passed away after only two years of marriage.
At the time of his death he was married to his loving wife of 8 years Leah Baird Kelley.
Allen was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jean Werkele, and his brother Richard Kelley.
He is survived by his wife Leah, his son Stephen and wife Karen, son Michael and wife Kandie, daughter Cara McLemore, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 9 am Friday, June 25th at Sunset Gardens in Richland, WA followed by a memorial service beginning at 11 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 520 Thayer Drive also in Richland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Laborers for Christ care of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
