Alvin Homer Obituary

Alvin "Lynn" Homer

April 12, 1937 - November 28, 2025

Richland, Washington - Alvin "Lynn" Homer returned to his heavenly home on November 28th, 2025, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington. He was born on April 12, 1937, in Round Butte, Montana, to Russell Kent Homer and Fay Wright. As the fourth of thirteen children, he learned to work hard on the family farm and was his mother's right-hand man. Lynn graduated from Charlo High School as a scholar athlete in basketball. While attending Montana State on a Basketball scholarship, he met the love of his life and eternal companion, Gladys Lucille Collins. They were married on May 23, 1958, in the Idaho Falls temple. They shared 67 devoted years together. Lynn dedicated his life to providing for his beloved wife and their twelve children. He pursued many occupations, including salesman, cheese maker, schoolteacher, basketball coach, farmer, insurance agent, real estate agent, and horse trainer. For 60 years, he was a pillar in the Burbank community, serving 18 years on the school board. Lynn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings and as Bishop of the Pasco 1st Ward for five years. He led by example, exemplifying warmth, kindness, a steadfast work ethic, unconditional love, and boundless compassion. He never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. His open heart and home fostered lasting relationships with many he considered family. Lynn's generosity and friendship touched the lives of many. He was loved by all who knew him. He found joy raising, riding, and training horses, and delighted in sharing horseback trips with family, friends, and youth. Above all, he cherished his large family, treasuring every moment spent together during holidays, reunions, and lively gatherings. Lynn is survived by his wife, Gladys; their twelve children, Dana (Michael) Davidson, Ranae (David) McCullough, Kaye (Andy) Shaw, Jason (Tammy) Homer, Blaine (Lisa) Homer, Rhinda (Thane) Davidson, Eric (Jen) Homer, Justin (Lorie) Homer, Jonathan (Kiersten) Homer, Janette (James) Freeman, Lyle Homer, Zain (Tianshu) Homer, 77 grandchildren, 134 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Tippy. As a family rule, we don't count horses or cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Eva Mortensen, and his brothers, Russell, Jim, and David Homer. A memorial service will be held on December 6, 2025, at 12:30 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 749 S. Lake Road in Burbank, Washington. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Wallula Cemetery. Lynn's legacy will live on in every life he touched, every child he taught, and in every heart he loved. We love you Lynn, Dad, Grandpa, and Great grandpa. You will be greatly missed. Sweet will be the day when we all ride together again.
