Bonna Belle Wright, a 61-year resident of Kennewick, Washington, passed on to meet her Lord and Savior, Monday, March 29, 2010, at Kennewick General Hospital. She was born December 20, 1920, in Custer County, Oklahoma, to parents Luther Melton and Eula Mae (Maples) Melton.

Bonna worked for Max's Stop & Go restaurant, owned by Max and Ruth Rush, for several years. She then went to work for the Kennewick School District in 1960 working first at Eastgate Elementary School as secretary to Principal Conward Farris, then moved to Kamiakin High School as head secretary to Principal Rice, retiring from Kamiakin in 1991 at 70 years old.

Bonna and family joined Kennewick Baptist Church soon after coming to Kennewick. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School classes for children through adults. Her passion was working with children and she contributed much of her spare time making crafts, costumes, and props for the church and Little People's Workshop in Kennewick.

Bonna is survived by her three children, Larry Wright and wife Karen, Randy Wright and wife Juanita, and daughter Darla Wright, brother-in-law Bill Wright, and her grandchildren Tami Junt, Debra Ellis, Annette Premo, Chad Wright, Barbara Wright and Carmen Chaffee. She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to express their appreciation to KGH and Kennewick Life Care Center for their excellent treatment of their mother, Bonna.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Kennewick Baptist Church, Children's Ministry.

Services will be held Friday, April 2nd, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at Kennewick Baptist Church, 2425 West Albany, Kennewick, Washington. Pastor Dustin Hall will officiate and Bill Elam will provide vocal service. Reception following the service and all are invited.
