Clifford White
January 17, 1939 - December 3, 2025
Pasco, Washington - Clifford "Cliffy" White, 86, passed away peacefully at home on December 3, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family.
Cliffy was born in Mt. Vernon, Washington, and spent his childhood in Anacortes and Seattle, graduating from Franklin High School in 1958. He moved from Seattle to Franklin County in the 1960s and made his home in the Tri-Cities for the remainder of his life.
A lifelong public servant, Cliffy served in the Air National Guard from 1956–1962. He went on to serve as a Sheriff's Deputy and later Undersheriff in Franklin County. After a season working in the automotive industry, he ran for Sheriff in 1990. Ultimately, he returned to the world he loved most, the automotive industry, where he built a long and meaningful career. Cliffy cherished the relationships he formed with his loyal customers and colleagues so deeply that he didn't retire until age 81.
His love for cars began early, including owning a service station with his dad in Seattle. Throughout his life, he remained passionate about the industry and especially enjoyed attending the annual car show in Joseph, Oregon. Cliffy also loved camping with friends and family, and he treasured time spent on the Oregon Coast, taking in the scenery and savoring good food.
Cliffy was the ultimate people person - warm, outgoing, and endlessly friendly. He never met a stranger, and everyone loved "Cliffy." He lived to make others laugh and was cracking jokes up until his final days. He found great joy in supporting his kids and grandkids in every season of life from sports and school events to work milestones and everything in between. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Around the age of 40, Cliffy came to know the Lord personally and placed his faith in Jesus Christ. He first came to faith at First Baptist Church Pasco and later became a long-time member of First Baptist Church Richland, where he built deep friendships and grew in his walk with the Lord. His faith shaped his life, his character, and the way he treated others. In his final days, Cliffy held firmly to the hope and promise of being with the Lord, and his family takes great comfort in knowing he is now at peace in His presence.
Cliffy was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Richard, and his brothers-in-law, John and Greg. He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie; his children Nathan (Heather), Nicholas (Samantha), Debbie, and Erin; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Linn. He also leaves behind sisters- and brothers-in-law and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life, including a service and light lunch reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, at Bethel Church, 600 Shockley Rd, Richland, WA.
In Cliffy's final days, he was cared for with compassion by Tri-Cities Chaplaincy's Hospice Care. The family invites those wishing to honor his memory to consider a charitable gift to their organization. You can do so online at
