Collin L. Karthauser, born March 14, 1946 in McCook, Nebraska to Richard Joseph 'P.O.' & Frances (O'Mera) Karthauser, died suddenly on August 16, 2003 in Lincoln, California. He lived in Prosser, Washington for the past 24 years and recently relocated to Oroville, California with his wife, Kathy. He spent parts of his youth in Massona, New York and Page, Arizona, graduating from Page High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning from service, he attended Butte College in California where he met and married his wife. He moved to Pullman, Washington, working construction as an iron worker and attending Washington State University. After graduation, he moved to Prosser where he raised his family and owned and operated two pizza restaurants, K.C.'s Pizza House in Prosser and Chatterbox Pizza in Sunnyside. In recent years, he worked as a Financial Consultant for Edward Jones Investments. He was active within the community as a member of the Prosser School Board, the Prosser Chamber of Commerce, the Prosser Rotary, and the Knights of Columbus at the Sacred Heart parish. He was also active as a soccer, baseball, and basketball coach in various youth leagues within the community.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Kathy; daughter, Kasey of Verdi, NV; daughter, Kari Jo Pond and husband, Wylie, of Martinez, CA; son, Collin J. of San Francisco, CA; son, Chad of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Dennis and his wife, Penny, of Vacaville, CA; sister, Barbara Gillio and her husband, Nick, of Rock Springs, WY; sister, Kelly Sidebottom of Rock Springs, WY; nieces and nephews, David, Kimberly, Angel, Matt, Cara, Michael, Ryan, Tyler, and Kendra; granddaughter, Kaylee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser. Recitation of the Rosary is scheduled for 6:30 PM on Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Annie Tran Foundation, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or the American Cancer Society.
