Dave always had a smile for us after our games at WSU, win or lose. It made a great impression on me, it helped me keep things in perspective. He was always so proud of Shannon and his love for her friends was as if we were his own. It has been quite awhile since I have seen Dave. I think often of that time of my life and the parents that were always there to support us. Dave never failed to encourage us, he was always kind and his humor kept us laughing. I am heartbroken to hear that he has passed on. I know he will be greatly missed. God Bless!

When I did my student teaching 12 years ago at Cascade Elementary I had the pleasure to friend Dave. He said I always reminded him of one of his daughters. He laughed how I always called him "kid". He had such a love for life and had such a fabulous sense of humor. He believed in me as a new teacher and always supported me! After he retired he would come and sub in my classroom. My students loved him and thought he was so funny! Years later I had my daughter Sophia Grace and he thought that was so great because he had a grandaughter with the same name! I would always run into him at REI and catch up with him. It wasn't until this summer that I asked about him at REI and found out he was ill. I finally called him about a month ago to tell him I missed him and loved him and hope he was doing as well as could be expected. I left a message on his answering machine. I just found out tonight that he made his transition. I'm saddened and he will be missed. I will never forget his humor, kindness, and loving nature. Life is not forever, love is!! Love ya Kid!

My good friend and shipmate on the USS Washburn ( AKA-108 ). Many times on board ship we would talk about what we wanted when we got out of the Navy but mostly he would say he wanted to teach. Money was not his driving force in life, helping others was. One of his passions was music and I learned a great deal about Folk music in the 50s & 60s.. Farwell to my friend & shipmate. Michael O.
