Donald Jordan Obituary
Donald W. Jordan
February 22, 1938 - August 22, 2021
Richland, Washington - Our loving father and husband, Donald W. Jordan of Richland passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family.
Dad was born in Gilbert, Arizona on February 22, 1938, one of six siblings to his parents Warren and Josie Jordan. His family were hardworking field workers who traveled multi-state tending to the fields and orchards from Oklahoma to California where they resided for many years.
Dad graduated from Woodlake High School in Woodlake, CA and soon after joined the United States Air Force where he served for six years before he was honorably discharged. In 1964, Dad met his lovely bride Linda in Exeter, California on a double date with his brother Gilbert. She soon after became his wife and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in July, 2021. They grew their family from two to five by 1970 and lived in Simi Valley, CA for several years.
Dad and mom moved their family to Washington State in 1979 where he was employed by Westinghouse Hanford to work in hydraulics as a millwright at the FFTF. He worked for several contractors at the Hanford Site through the years and was a valued team member until his retirement in 2004. Dad made a number of lifelong friends there.
Dad enjoyed the great outdoors and spent much of his time as possible doing the things he loved - fishing, hunting with cherished friends, gardening, making salsa, doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms, and driving many a back road with his wife Linda. Those two were explorers and enjoyed many adventures together including trips to Mexico, Alaska and across the country with family and friends.
During his younger years, Dad always took his three girls camping and exploring to all kinds of interesting places. He taught them so many valuable lessons in life, not only how to gut a fish, start a fire, and shoot, he also taught them loyalty, hard work, determination, and unconditional love.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents Warren and Josie; his sisters Delphine and Gerry; his brother Frank; and a special cousin Larry. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of Richland; his daughters Marcy (Kelley) and her children Aaron and Ashley of Vancouver, WA; Lori (Gary) and her children Caitlin, Jeremy and Amy of West Richland; and Alicia (Dan) and her son Matthew of Richland; his sister Colleen and brother Gilbert; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will take place at a later time. In honor of our Dad, please spend time doing something wonderful in nature and think of him as you do it.
