Elizabeth McWethy Obituary

Elizabeth McWethy

October 8, 1940 - July 26, 2025

Richland, Washington - Elizabeth Anne "Bashor" McWethy passed away at her home in Richland on July 26, 2025, during recovery following surgery.

She was born in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1940 to Ralph and Anna Mae Bashor, the second of four children. She enjoyed Girl Scouts and got all the merit badges.

She married Leslie Michael McWethy in 1960 in Loveland, Colorado. She and Mike started their family in California, before moving to Washington in 1973.

She participated in the bowling league for many years. After successfully launching her children, she worked as a waitress at the Spudnut shop for many years and branched further into her antiques business at the Uptown Mall. No thrift store, garage sale, or estate sale with treasures was safe from her. She spent many hours enjoying her gardening projects, hanging on the patio with her morning cup of coffee, and watching her Koi carp in the pond.

She was of tremendous help in raising her first grandchild, devoting her time and endless driving hours getting to and from Renton almost every weekend for many years. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, was an important part of their lives, and was endlessly supportive of her family. She was helping raise her great-grandson for the past year.

Survivors include her husband; three siblings, Ralph, Judy, Kaye, and their families; three children, Guy McWethy, Jennifer (Kambiz) McWethy, and Kim (Michael) Thomson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Memorial service is pending.

I worked with Beth at the Spudnut Shop. Such a pleasant and hard worker. Everyone loved to work with her.

We had so much fun shopping the thrift stores for "treasures". We would give each other a treasure to look for and be so pleased when either one would find it. We shared love of plants and she was always eager to share. I reallly miss her.
