Richland, Washington - Harold (Harry) Lee Garrison, 77, passed away on July 4, 2023. He was the husband of Patricia Garrison for 48 years. Harry was born in Taylor, Michigan and was the son of James and Virginia Garrison. He graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in chemical engineering. In 1970, he joined the Navy and was on the USS Stonewall Jackson submarine stationed in Groton, Connecticut, where he met Patricia, the VW saleswoman who sold him his car. That sale blossomed into love and he and Patricia were married in 1975. In 1976, they, along with Patricia's daughter, Pamela, moved to Richland, Washington where he worked at Hanford for Westinghouse during development of the Fast Flex Test Facility. In 1983 in his spare time, he and his wife started a small appliance business out of their garage. Harry would fix up old appliances, Pat would clean them, and they would resell them to help the college fund for their daughter. This led to them opening their first store "Northwest Appliance," which continued to grow into two stores in Kennewick and Hermiston and is now known as "Garrison's Home Appliance". They enjoyed many years working with, meeting, and creating relationships with people in the community as well as making many long-time friends all over the country through their business. When they weren't working, they enjoyed many vacations camping, fishing and visiting National Parks and most of all boating. They were board members of the Richland Yacht Club for many years as well. Harry continued the tradition of his father and was a 50-year Mason (1971-2023) and past Master and Secretary from 1988-2010 in the Richland Masonic Lodge #283. Harry was also a proud member of the Columbia Center Rotary, where he was the Chairman of the International Service Committee, living up to the fundamental principle of Rotary "Service Above Self" by shepherding projects in foreign countries that benefitted children and families without resources, including providing potable water, school supplies for needy children, building schools in remote areas for indigenous people and much more. Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter Pamela Frick (Glenn), and grandsons, Justin and Chance Frick. Service will be held at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S Union St, Kennewick, Washington on Friday, July 21. Visitation at 10:30 and entombment service directly following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Center Rotary, Chaplaincy Hospice, or the Tri Cities Cancer Center Foundation.
