Dr. John F. Peters, 96, of Kennewick, WA, formerly of Middletown, PA, died Monday, November 22, 2004, at the Arizona State Veterans' Home, Phoenix, AZ.
Born at home on December 22, 1907, in Waynesboro, PA. Dr. Peters was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Dental School, Class of 1932. In 1937, he was married to Mollie Romberger.
A dentist, Dr. Peters had a private practice for 62 years. In 1994, he closed his dental office and moved to Washington state. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Middletown. He was also a life-member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 1092, a 58-year member of the American Legion Post #594, both of Middletown, and a Charter Member of the Middletown Kiwanis Club. He also was a member of the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg and a member of the Blue Lodge, F&AM, Middletown.
Dr. Peters was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving from August 1943 to August 1946 with 23 months of foreign service in Europe.
Surviving are a son, John F. Jr., married to Cindy Peters of Scottsdale, AZ, and Richland, WA, and a brother, Carroll of Waynesboro, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife Mollie in 1989 and his two sisters Minerva and Freda.
Dr. Peters' Life Celebration from the Coble-Reber Funeral Home, Middletown, will be on Friday, December 3. Burial will be in the Middletown Cemetery.
