JOSEPH JIMENEZ Obituary

Einan's Funeral Home

Joseph Michael Jimenez, 64, of Pasco, Washington, passed away at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, December 27, 2011. He was born to Michael Joseph Jimenez and Opal Loa Jimenez on November 11, 1947, in Blackfoot Idaho and was the oldest of five children.

Joe met Jacque Benson in 1973 and the two were together from that time on. Joe and Jacque have two daughters: Hillary (Danny) Legard, Katie Jimenez, four grandchildren: Erik, Ethan, Kenadee and Brooklyn Legard of Pasco, Washington.

He is survived by his wife, two children, and grandchildren; his mother Opal Loa Jimenez, brothers Steve Jimenez, Dennis Jimenez, Shane Jimenez and sister Barbara Kosizek.

His father, Michael Joseph Jimenez, precedes him in death.

Joe worked in the exploratory drilling profession throughout the Northwest, Southwest and Alaska from 1973-1979. In 1979, he moved his family to Tri-Cities, WA, where he was a residential construction foreman for his uncle. Shortly thereafter, Joe had the opportunity to use his extensive drilling experience and was hired at Hanford. Joe was kind, respected, admired, and appreciated by family, friends and co-workers. He had a way of bringing out the best in people.

Joe retired in 2007 with his soul mate Jacque. Before their retirement they purchased a second home in the mountains outside of Challis, Idaho. Joe's love for the outdoors was his passion. He loved to hunt, exaggerate about how big the fish were he caught, go 4-wheeling from the driveway of the Challis home and hike the mountains of Idaho. In 2008, Joe hiked the highest mountain in Idaho, Mt Borah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012, at Saint Patrick's Church, 1320 W. Henry St., Pasco, WA. After the funeral, graveside services and burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 915 By-Pass Hwy, Richland, WA 99352. I worked with Joe at the Hanford site. It was my first job after college. He was a wonderful person and so easy to get along with; everyone felt at ease around him. He has a great sense of humor and a smile to match. I did not find out about his passing until a few years ago, and I decided to find his info on Legacy.com after another colleague of ours just passed away. Joe and Jerry Bultena shared an office in the drilling trailer at the Exploratory Shaft site BWIP Project. They were always fun to be around. They knew so much and were willing to help out new people. They were two of the people I met first and we became good friends. I loved working with both of them. My condolences to Jacque and his family. There's no replacing him, but his wonderful memory and spirit live on.

Joe was an outstanding person and I was proud to know him. Although I lost touch with him after his retirement i will always remember him as a fellow employee and friend with the utmost integrity and loyalty to his family. The "old days" of drilling, slow pitch baseball and frequent joking will always be remembered. Jacque, you had a helluva a husband! Don
