Juan Soto Obituary

Juan Pablo Soto
June 27, 1952 - October 11, 2021
Kennewick, Washington - Juan Pablo Soto, an amazing humanitarian and incredible artist, passed away from Covid 19 on October 11th, 2021. Pablo was a phenomenal painter and muralist whose talent can be seen from local schools, such as the Bomber mural on the gym at Richland High School and the Native American murals in the courtyard at Kamiakin, to places like Stanford University and the Smithsonian. Painting was Pablo's passion. Pablo graduated from Sunnyside High School, Sunnyside Washington, and attended Central Washington University for a brief time before he was drafted in the Vietnam War. Pablo was well known for (and enjoyed) helping his neighbors and bringing donuts to the residents in his apartment complex every Wednesday. Pablo Soto was preceded in death by his parents Regino and Martina Soto of Sunnyside, Washington, his younger brother Jessie of Spokane, Washington, and his girlfriend Cindy Smith of Kennewick. Pablo is survived by his sisters, Margarita Gonzalez (Jesus), Natalia Gonzalez (Juan), Genaro Soto (Bertha), Juan Guadalupe Soto (Noelia), Juanita Ramirez (Arthur), Consuelo Soto Murphy (Shawn), Martina Soto (Chris). Pablo had no biological children but he considered Shane, Brian, and Chad Murphy his own, as Pablo helped raise them during the many years he lived with his sister and fellow artist, Consuelo Soto Murphy. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held on Friday at Einan's at Sunset Funeral Home.

My husband and I at the time did not have much money in the early 1990s. He traded us some paintings for dishes. Very nice person. Truly gifted.

My deepest condolences. Pablo was my friend who I met in San Jose and he lived a short time with me in Fresno. Through the years I acquired many of his paintings.

I was searching through the web looking for Pablo so that we can connect. I am writing a book, and Pablo was my friend at that time, and I wanted to share our story in my book. I am so sorry, and feel so sad, and to find out that we both lived in Tri-Cities, and never saw each other again, makes me even sadder, my condolences to you, God bless your family ):

Pablo was an amazing friend to all. Smart, talented, and witty , so you never ran out of things to discuss. My heart shattered when I heard Pablo was gone. This one stung. My love and condolences to all his family and friends. He made a tremendous impact in the lives of the people around him. I'm going to miss him so much.
