Lin Dewitt Obituary

Richland, Wash.
Einan's Funeral Home
Lin DeWitt, longtime Richland resident, left this life on July 25, 2005, at home in the company of her adoring family. Lin was born in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, on February 16, 1945, and grew up in Kapuskasing, Ontario. She moved to Richland in 1963 site unseen following her fairy-tale encounter with Roger DeWitt and their marriage 11 days later.
In her 42 years as a Richland resident, Lin and Roger raised three children and welcomed eight grandchildren into their lives. She worked diligently over the years by her husband's side through the growth of their business, Total Energy Management, and taught aerobics and general fitness at Columbia Basin Racquet Club with unwavering dedication for over 21 years. With verve and vitality, this woman taught us how to live; with strength and grace, she taught us how to die with dignity.
Besides her solid core of cherished friends, Lin is survived by her husband, Roger; her eldest son, Brad and JJ DeWitt of Richland; her son, Aaron and Monica DeWitt of West Richland; her daughter, Sydelle and Morgan Wiser of Bellingham; her eight grandchildren: Alexis, Hunter, Kyler, Tanner, Rylee, Sydney, Austin and Cooper; her brother, Mike and Jocelyne Anderson of London, Ontario; her sister, Kris and Don Allen of Richland; and nieces and nephews: Siobhan Hutcherson, Lesley Anderson, Craig Anderson and Chad Allen. Lin was preceded in death by her father, Wilfrid; her mother, Beulah; and her brother, Sandy.
Viewing will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at Einan's Funeral Home, 915 By-Pass Highway, Richland, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kennewick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 'TEM Softball Bash for Cancer' at any America West Bank, Account #4600106357.

Lin is one of those people you will never forget. The real Energizer Bunny! Always a pleasure to talk with and laugh with, a genuine good person.

I always picture Lin with a smile on her face & something nice to say or something sarcastic (in a loving way) if she knew you well. She had seemingly non-stop energy that made you feel the same. She was a great person in so many ways. We miss you Lin.

Lin is like an aunt to me. Since the day I was born my mother and Lin shared their lives as best friends. Lin spoiled me with the best tea parties and taught me what a best friend was supposed to be. I have yet to find a friend in my life that represents what Lin was in my mothers'. I will truely miss her and for every sunny day I get in Seattle, I know she is with me.

Our time together was far too short but the memories of that time are very important to us and will be visited often. I'm certain God has welcomed you with open arms. May he now bless your family.

Dewitt Family,

Just wanted to let you know that your mom was always so sweet, as I'm sure you hear all the time. When I found out about her cancer a year ago, my childrens class at church prayed for her regularly. She definately left a wonderful impression on the hearts of the lives that she touched. I know my uncle Ken & Aunt Char adored her, she will be missed. Our prayers will continue to go out to you and your family during your time of sorrow.

Cruisin the Coast will come and go in Oct.but things won"t quite be the same without our beautiful West Coast cousin Lin. It's always a fun time, but you and Rog made it special. We will miss you for sure, but always will remember the great times together. I've got it on good authority that the good Lord likes Hotrods to.

For as long as I can remember knowing Lin - probably since CBRC opened - I have always thought of her as a role model - she knew what was important, and what wasn't, and she set the standard for "changing what you can change, accepting what you can't change, and knowing the difference".

But my favorite story about her is that one day about 10 years ago, I was standing outside the aerobics room where Lin was teaching, waiting for the next class to start. Two college girls were standing next to me. One of them said, referring to Lin, "I hope I can look that good when I'm 40'; the other replied, "I wish I could look that good now!"

Do the math - Lin was close to 50!

She was truly an inspiration to all around her.

Lin, I will never forget my 2 week trip to Richland, with my first husband Denny.. He had to work and You took me around to show me your city.. I really enjoyed that.. I even went to work with you, and watched one of your classes.. I got tired just watching You.. Together we decided it was time to paint the Flowers on your wallpaper.. I had to leave and return to Ohio.. But you did the painting, You said It gave it a whole new look.. Rest in peace, in the arms of God my Sweet Lady.. Someday we shall all be together again.. If I had a second Mom, I would want it to be Lin. What a wonderful woman, a rock, and someone who knew how to live life and how to make others feel good. Lin was always someone I looked forward to talking with because I alway felt good afterwards. We will all miss her in so many ways but she will never be forgotten and will always live in our hearts.
