MARGARET WHITEAKER Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) D. Whiteaker went to heaven on Sunday, January 27, 2013, in Casa Grande, AZ, with her loving husband by her side.

Peggy was born on February 23, 1943, in Tucson, AZ to Edwin and Eleanor Dryden. She moved to the Tri-Cities in 1975 where she raised her 3 wonderful children and then found her best friend and husband of 26 years, Russ. Peggy loved life and lived it to the fullest. You hear of people with the gift of gab but Peggy has them all beat. She made friends wherever she went and when she walked away you had a smile on your face and knew you had a new friend.

Peggy was an avid golfer, gardener, knitter, member of the Canyon Lakes Golf Club, member of the Red Hat Society, a Jafra Consultant, loved animals, and was up to any adventure: snow skiing, white water rafting, square dancing, anything Peggy wanted to do she did with an absolute zest for life. She retired in 2008 from the Washington State DSHS and for the past 2 years Peggy and Russ and their 2 dogs have spent the winters as snow birds travelling in their fifth-wheel, meeting and making many more new friends, and living their dream.

Peggy is survived by her husband Russell L. Whiteaker of Pasco, WA; son Robert A. Baker, III Gig Harbor, WA (wife Jessy); daughters Dana M. Akhavuz Seattle, WA (husband Hasan), and Victoria L. Baker; brothers David Dryden Tucson, AZ, and Steve Dryden Kodiak, AK; 2 beautiful granddaughters, 3 nieces, 3 great nephews, and so many many friends.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parent's Edwin and Eleanor Dryden.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Peggy's name to the American Cancer Society.

Peggy was a great friend starting in the summer of 1957 when I moved down the street from her and her family before we started high school. We shared so many wonderful fun times in the years to come. Including an animated lunch with her in November prior to her diagnosis of cancer. I miss her every day.

I am glad to have had the opportunity to meet Peggy. She was a woman with a lot of spunk and in my eyes a fashion queen. I am sorry that we did not have more time to really get to know each other. I can see she has left many good memories.

It was fun and a pleasure to work with Peggy at WPPSS. Running into Peggy at Costco and catching up on life, kids and her new interests was always a joy. Peggy miss you and thank you for making our life brighter.

Peggy is going to be so greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was such a great lady. The kindest heart , wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and best friend anyone could have had. I as so many of us will miss her dearly. I knew Peggy for over 30 years and a part of me has left with her. She will always be in my heart. My prayers go out to Russ and family
