MARVIN SMITH Obituary

MARVIN LLOYD SMITH Marvin Lloyd Smith, age 94, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2015. Marvin (Buzzy) Smith was born on August 15, 1921 in Palco, Kansas and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arnold and Ruth Smith, and by his two brothers and three sisters: Norman, Doyle, Doris, Jeannie, and Beth. Marvin grew up in Ellis, Kansas and graduated from Hastings College in Grand Island, Nebraska. He served in the Air Force during WWII, and while stationed in England, met and married his wife of 71 years, Ethel Margaret Broadbent Smith. He is survived by his wife Margaret Smith and his six children: Stephen (Cheryl), Roger (Emily), Allan (Ione), Margaret (Stephen Chandler), Warren (Connie) and Barbara (Robert Youssef), and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. After returning from WWII Marvin and Margaret lived in Grand Island, Neb., Seattle, Wa.; and Richland, Wa. In 1957 he moved his famiy into the home he built on Victoria Avenue in Kennewick, Wa, where he raised his family and spent the remainder of his life. He worked as a nuclear safety health physicist at Hanford. After retirement he started Spectrum Carpets and Kitchen & Bath Restylers with his son Warren. Marvin enjoyed playing backyard football and ping pong with his kids, woodworking, computer hobbyist, camping with his children, boating and water skiing. He is remembered especially for his deep commitment to his family, his personal integrity, hospitality and generosity to others. Memorial Service will be conducted on January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at South Hills Church, 3700 W. 27th Avenue, Kennewick, WA.
