Pat was my step grandpa and in fact was my only grandpa growing up. Pat never failed to make me and my sister laugh. I would go with him to work at the ranch houses and there he would teach me the importance of hard work and a strong mindset. He was a giver always taking us to eat and giving us advice if we needed it. As strong as pats work ethic was, he also had a heart of gold with a big sense of humor. I consider pat my biggest inspiration in life and I hope to name one of my kids after him. He wasn´t my biological grandfather but he always treated me like his own blood. His memory will forever live on. Sending prayers and love to pats family.

Around 1996-98, Jackie and Pat Iribarren surprised me by stopping by to visit my home in Leavenworth, WA. They were both such sweet souls. They reminded me of Lucille Ball and Desie Arnaz. They could banter back and forth, never missing a beat to add to their meshing of exuberant exchanges. So like Lucille and Desie! They made me laugh the whole time they were at my house. I had just baked fresh bread and a cobbler. Then, I asked if they'd like to try some and Jackie politely said they had just stopped at a restaurant for lunch. Pat then interjected, "What the H__? Speak for yourself, I want some cobbler!"
Hahahaha...that took 10 minutes. Then we all decided to have cobbler. I offered ice cream on top and Jackie politely said, "We are fine!" Then Pat chimed in, "What the H__? Speak for yourself!" We all proceeded to have ice cream with our cobbler.
They were good folks, such a comfort to me and my children. Out of the blue, Jackie would call me to come to the farm and bring the kids. I would say are you sure its ok? Jackie would retort, "WHAT? I JUST ASKED YOU TO COME OVER. GET THE KIDS IN THE DAMN CAR AND GET OVER HERE!!!" We loved the farm, it was always a beautiful vacation for each of us. SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES Exploring the farm, fishing , petting all the collections of various animals, studying all the rocks Jackie collected, looking at a zillion plants, to the yummy, home-cooking, 'Jackie meals.' She would ask us if we wanted more food and I/we would say 'We are stuffed...no thank you." Seconds later, Jackie would put a scoop of food on the plate anyway. We always found it went down just fine! We would leave the farm feeling very much loved.
Going home, once again, primed to face life's challenges. We all needed that hope and infusion of love.
I'm sure Pat and Jackie are back to bantering right now. They were a beautiful couple and had four beautiful children.
God bless them both and their families. There will never be enough praises that I can give them regarding their wonderful son Steven. Steven has been such a gift to Sarah, my family and me. From the day Sarah brought him home, Steven has been such a blessing to us, in so many ways...I cannot begin to list them, but thank you Steve. We love you beyond words.
Love & prayers your way,
