PAUL HOLM Obituary

PAUL JAY HOLM Sept. 22, 1932 July 30, 2017 Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home A military graveside service will be held for Paul, Friday, the 22nd of September, 2:00 p.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA. Following this service, please join us at 3216 W. 21st Ave, Kenne-wick (right across the street from Paul and Ellie's place at 3217) this is the home of Leland and Cindy Cornett, Paul's neighbors for the past forty years and whom are opening the doors to their home so that as his friends, we may gather to celebrate Paul's birthday, life, exchange stories and enjoy food and beverage. Paul passed away at Chaplaincy's Hospice House, following a brief illness at the age of 84. Paul was born to Paul John and Adah May Holm in Yakima, WA. He was the third of four children, raised in North Bend, and graduated from Mt. Si High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. Following graduation, he, like many of his friends, received his draft notice in 1952 and served with the U.S. Army in Korea until 1954. During his service, he received the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcie Miller and his brother Jerry Holm, both of Walla Walla. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ellie, three children, daughters Kristy and husband Dr. Kenneth Briggs, Shari and husband Mark Carranza, son Paul John and wife Tiffany Holm, stepsons Scott Echols and Mark and Shelley Echols, twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Paul moved to Walla Walla in 1972 and worked for Jake Brown and Continental Oil, while Ellie worked for the Walla Walla Clinic. They moved to Kennewick in 1977 and Paul worked for various local companies as a truck and tanker driver, these included The Doyle Brothers, McCall's, CHS, and lastly Winfield Solutions Land O'Lakes. Paul loved his job, loved being out on the road with a window rolled down, wind in his face and thoughts in his head. He had a great safety record and employers found him to be easy and careful with their equipment. January 2017, at the age of 84, Paul decided it was time to retire. He hated to do it but he acknowledged that at his age, it just might not be so easy for him to pass the required health test. Paul, you will be dearly missed by your family and all the friends you made along the way. The family invites you to sign their online tribute wall at www.muellersfuneral homes.com

I worked with Paul at Winfield. He was very kind to me when I started. I'll never forget that. We had some great conversations on the road. RIP my friend.
