RAY BROCK Obituary


Columbia Memorial Chapel

Col. Ray S. Brock passed away May 4, 2011, at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, Washington . He was 87 years old.

He was born in a log cabin on the Indian Reservation in Oklahoma to Clyde and Daisy Brock. Ray moved to West Texas when he was 5 years old and attended school in Whitarral, Texas. He later graduated from Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas. Ray served his country in the United States Navy and also served in the South Pacific during WW2.

Ray played semi-pro baseball and farmed. In 1948 he married Bobbie Ruth Thurman, they then moved to Burbank, Washington, in 1960. Together they had an Auction barn and specialized in antiques. They performed charity auctions for most service clubs and rest homes. He loved to ride horses and go camping. He enjoyed taking the children on bear walks after dark in the Blue Mountains.

Ray was a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, and a charter member of Two Rivers Riding Club.

Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years Bobbie R. Brock.

He was preceded in death by his mother Daisy B. Brock and his father Clyde A. Brock, his sister Bonnie Jackson and his brother Bill Brock.

In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Legion Post #34 in Pasco.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2011, at Columbia Memorial Chapel in Pasco. Reception to follow services at American Legion Post 34, Pasco, WA.

Bobbie, I am not sure that you will remember me ...Angie Leatham. Col. Brock announced alot of playdays that i rode in and I spent some time in your home as well. In my years I have never forgotten his advice, Is a matter of fact one piece that he told me was you never enter the ring for 2nd place and i have told my own kids who show cattle this very statement! I will sure miss him and I wish you well also!

Sorry for your loss. I am sure that Col. and Don are telling stories and making plans to build some machine or device like did here. I can just imagine them sitting together and laughing just like old times. I'm so thankful for your friendship over the years.

Bobbie I so deeply enjoyed knowing the two of you. Oornal will be greatly missed. I will always remember the smile you both wore and the kindness he showed to me and my family. I first met the two of you back in the 70's with Rocky Scoric and his family. My prayers are with you. God blessed you both
