SCOTT LUMPER Obituary

Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home

Scott Forrest Lumper was born on January 28, 1987, to Neal and Laura (Preszler) Lumper, sisters Amity and Tamara, and later to little brother Jonathan. Scott was a long-awaited gift and the first boy in the family. He was a big boy with an even bigger smile who was loved by all!

On Wednesday, June 15, 1988, Scott suffered a tragic accident. From that point on, his name changed to Scottie, and a new chapter of his life began. With many friends and family members caring for him, he was able to stay at home with his family for 1 1/2 years. With the constant love and guidance from Pastor Dale White, Neal and Laura were able to survive one of the most difficult times that parents could ever face. There will never be enough thanks to express to the Cathedral of Joy Pastoral Staff and congregation for their support.

In January 1990, Scottie was fortunate to be welcomed into the home of Phyllis Lawrence. Phyllis and her staff provided loving and skilled care for children like Scottie with special needs. They always welcomed the Lumper family, no matter the day or time.

Phyllis passed on June 19, 2000, at which time Teri Thompson stepped in and continued the loving care that Scottie had at Phyllis's home. Soon Teri and her husband Roland purchased and remodeled a Pasco home, creating "The Thompson Home." Teri and her team provided exceptional care for Scottie that far exceeded any of the family's expectations. We are forever grateful. Scottie peacefully passed away there on January 18, 2014.

The Lumper Family would like to thank all of the people that touched Scottie's life. Teachers, doctors, friends and family have given so much to make Scottie's life as comfortable and normal, no matter how challenging his condition.

Scottie is survived by Neal and Laura (Preszler) Lumper, parents; Amity Lumper, sister (Derek Low); Tamara (Lumper) Barcus, sister (Scott Barcus, Alexander and Oscar Barcus); Jonathan Lumper, brother; Lorraine and the late Oscar Preszler, grandparents; the late Leah and Gerald Lumper, grandparents; and aunts and uncles, Jim and Sheryl Lumper, Bruce Lumper and Marolyn Wilks, Geraldine and Jerry Garten, Noel and Tina Lumper, George Preszler; and numerous cousins.

Finally, Scottie is walking, running, dancing and playing sports in heaven! Please join us at Scottie's memorial service at The Living Room Community Church located at 1409 S. Garfield, Kennewick (formerly Bethlehem Lutheran school) on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. (childcare provided).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Scottie's behalf to: The Arc of Tri-Cities (www.arcoftricities.com, 509-783-1131), or REHEMA Ministries: In Step Children's Home (www.rehemainstep.com, 360-708-7342).

To the Lumper Family,
I came across this notice while browsing the internet. Although I no longer live in the Tri-Cities, the people that I've met throughout the years hold a special place in my heart. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
In Christ,
Joyce Brown

Scotti will be missed by all who have taken care of him. He was a blessing to many even though he could not verbally communicate with us. He is in the hands of his Savior now and the Angel he was meant to be.

To the dear Lumper Family,
We have felt close to your wonderful family through our daughter Lisa and her friendship with Amity for many years.
Amity beautifully sang the Ave Maria at Lisa's wedding in September - may Scottie hear her singing surround him as he is being cared for in his everlasting home.
May our loving Father be close to each of you.
Prayerfully yours,
Leo and Terry Lawrence
