Timothy Lee Dinter, 56, of Prosser, entered into rest on January 8, 2011 at Yakima Valley Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 26, 1954, in Milbank, South Dakota to Merel George and Maureen Ann (Farrell) Dinter. He was raised and educated in Milbank and attended Melrose Number One, a country school from first to eighth grade. Tim graduated from Milbank High School with the class of 1972. Tim and Virginia 'Ginger' Hermans, his high school sweetheart, were married on June 24, 1972, in Milbank.

Tim began working with Bechtel Power Corp in Milbank (where their son Chris was born) and later was transferred to Berwick, Pennsylvania (where their daughter Erin was born). He worked for Bechtel Power Corporation at the Susquehanna Nuclear Power Station. In 1999, Tim worked as a quality control inspector for Washington Group International in Umatilla. He retired in 2002.

Tim was a member of the Prosser Church of the Nazarene. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a volunteer instructor for Prosser High School construction classes. He loved flying and was able to complete his first solo flight in February 1996. Tim also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Virginia 'Ginger' Dinter of Prosser; his son, Christopher Dinter and his wife, Jennifer of Kuna, Idaho; his daughter, Erin Schiller and her husband, Joshua of Seattle; and three grandchildren, Jackson, Caleb and Carson Dinter. The high school memories fade, but a good friend never does.. Thanks for all the good times my friend..

January 17, 2011

Dear Ginger and family,
I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Tim and I graduated together in 1972. We talked online and he always wanted us to get together in Milbank.

We were talking online many many years after we graduated. I remember Tim asking if I remembered the time school was called off early because of a blizzard. I said no, and he told me how he needed a place to stay and I invited him to stay at my house. He told me in one of our last emails how great it was that I had invited him over and what great grille cheese sandwiches my Mom made, and how kind she was to him. I didn't remember that day but Tim did.

He remembered the kindness showed to him and know he always paid it forward. This still sticks with me even as I write this that he would remember such a small gesture. This shows the true measure of this man..

It's been so long ago now but I still remember his smiling face, his kindness, and sense of humor.

To Tim.. I'm sorry buddy for not meeting up with you. Forgive me. Just know that I considered you a good friend then, now, and always.

God bless,

Ginger-You and your family are in our prayers here in Watertown, SD. Tim was the guest of honor at my wedding in 2006. It was always a joy talking with him when he visited my mom and dad in Milbank during the summers. He especially loved talking about you and his dogs. He will be forever missed. -Thor & Darcy (Prisinger) Thonvold and family
