Maurice Brown Obituary
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Marlene C. Hedgelon. The couple married on November 26, 1955.
Born on Feb. 7, 1933 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Archie S. and Grace Goodman Brown.
Moe was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1952. Later he served in the US Army during the Korean War.
For 27 years Moe was the Director of Public Works for the Borough of Honesdale. Before retiring, he was also a driver for Wayne County Transportation.
He was active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale and a board member of Indian Orchard Cemetery.
Moe faithfully supported the Red Cross and was proud that he donated over 19 gallons of blood.
When he was younger he enjoyed water skiing on Lake Alden and was able to teach many to water ski. Recently he enjoyed his evenings sitting down and playing solitaire.
Most of all, Moe loved being with his grandchildren and always put his family first.
Also surviving are his sons Michael M. and companion Melody Greene of Equinunk, David G. and wife Linda of Honesdale, Jeffrey "Charlie" and wife Sheila of Cherry Ridge and Christopher and wife Alison of Bethany; daughters Pamela McDonald and husband James of Pleasant Mount and Jennifer Trujillo and husband Darren of Milford; a sister Shirley Derrick and husband Robert of Waymart; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Orval Brown and sister Evelyn Johannes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 13th at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale with The Reverend Edward K. Erb, Rector, officiating.
Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery.
Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.

What a wonderful man drove the Senior Citizens from the area to the "Center". My Mom always spoke fondly of him. May God bless him for his many acts of kindness that made our world a better place. My condolences to all of you. In Sincere Sympathy.

There is only one word that describes Moe to a T, that word is none other than a perfect "GENTLEMAN". I worked at the WCAAA for a long time and he really took care of his clients. His leaving is a great loss to us but a great gain for God. He will be truly missed.
